Sugarcoated is a top-down, seamless cardigan with overlapping fronts, pockets and a generous hood.
We start the work with the hood, short rows and regular increases are used to achieve a comfortable shape.
After the hood is complete work continues on the yoke which is shaped with interesting increases.
After separating the body and the sleeves the body is worked to the pockets where the pocket fronts and the pocket linings are worked in several steps. Pocket openings are edged with slipped stitch edges.
After the completion of the pockets the pieces are joined together again and body is finished with ribbed hem.
Sleeves are worked from the underarm to the cuff in the round.
The wide bands on the fronts are worked simultaneously with the body.
Gauge
18 sts and 26 rows = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in Stockinette Stitch knit flat (hood, yoke and body) with larger needle after blocking
18 sts and 26 rounds = 10x10 cm/4”x4” in Stockinette Stitch knit in the round (sleeves) with larger needle after blocking
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
