Introducing the Star Coaster Crochet Pattern!
If you’re on the hunt for a quick, easy, and thoughtful handmade gift, look no further than the Star Coaster! This crochet pattern is perfect for last-minute presents, birthday gifts, or even a charming addition to your home decor.
These coasters work up quickly, making them an ideal project for both beginners and experienced crocheters alike.
For my coasters, I used two strands of DK weight yarn held together, which makes them sturdy and thick enough to protect your surfaces from heat. However, this pattern is incredibly versatile, so you can customize it with any yarn weight you prefer. Whether you opt for bold colours, soft pastels, or neutral tones, these coasters are sure to add a touch of handmade charm to any table setting.
DIFFICULTY
This pattern is an Advanced Beginner level crochet pattern.
You will need to understand basic stitch anatomy for this pattern and have some basic understanding of how to make granny squares.
YARN
Please note that the choice of yarn will affect the size of the final product.
It is recommended, but not necessary, to use a weight 4 yarn (aka Worsted/Aran weight) for this pattern.
The final product shown in the photos was made using two strands of weight 2 fine yarn held together to create the thickness of a weight 4 yarn.
Approx. 11m of yarn was used to make one coaster. That means this pattern is perfect for using up scrap bits of yarn you may have lying around, which I encourage you to do!
EQUIPMENT
You will need a 5mm crochet hook (or hook to match your yarn choice).
The only additional equipment you’ll need is a pair of scissors, a tape measure/ruler and a knitter’s/tapestry needle for sewing in ends.
TERMINOLOGY
This pattern is written in US terminology.
SIZE
The coaster measures 13-14cm wide (Measured from point to point)
