Staghorn Cable Hat
My best friend of 20+ years loves to hunt and asked me to design him a new hunting beanie. I got this yarn from Expression Fiber Arts as a limited edition color for Halloween - but it makes a beautiful camo look when knitted up!
The hat is constructed in-the-round, bottom-up with strategic decreases to keep the cabling pattern going all the way up. This pattern is charted in 3 parts and does provide written guidance in some parts. Don’t worry - the pattern will become quite obvious for what should come next. Suitable for an advanced (or enthusiastic) beginner or intermediate who can read charts.
ERRATA:
On the setup round before you start chart B it says “Begins on Round 18 of Chart A: p2tog, k 7, k2tog, k7, p2” . This should be p2tog, k3, k2tog, k6, ssk, k3, p2. to keep the base of the first cable decrease more proportional as you begin to decrease to shape the hat. This makes Round 1 of Chart B with the k2tog symbol in the middle obsolete and would now be grayed out. The rest of the chart and chart C will remain the same. A special “thank you” to Elizabeth D. who found this better way to do the decrease!
