Shiraz Slippers
by Mel Clark
These felted slippers are very flattering. They’re like ballet slippers, with a gently pointed toe, and they hug the foot nicely. The yarn is doubled and they’re worked in the round. I added suede pads to the soles so that they would last longer (the template is in the book), but they’re perfectly comfortable without. If they stretch after a while, you can machine wash them, even with the suede pads, and they will shrink back to a snug fit again. The finished lengths are long to accommodate the pointed toe, which rounds out slightly when worn.
Photos and instructions for finishing the slippers and adding a fabric lining can be found on my blog.
