Shetland Sunset Tam
A fun colorwork tam in shades of purples complemented by the natural-toned main color carried throughout.
NOTE: the colorwork portion requires that you read a chart!
Sample was knit using Jamieson & Smith’s 100% Shetland wool –
Approx yarn amounts needed:
• MC = 170 yds Shetland Supreme (shade 2006)
• CC1 = 25 yds 2ply jumper weight (shade FC14Mix)
• CC2 = 25 yds 2ply jumper weight (shade FC56Mix)
• CC3 = 20 yds 2ply jumper weight (shade 133Mix)
• CC4 = 15 yds 2ply jumper weight (shade 72Mix)
NOTES (please read thru the ENTIRE pattern to ensure understanding of construction):
• Work 2x2 corrugated ribbing with 3 rnds of each of the four contrast colors as the purl sts and MC as the knit sts
• After the ribbing, you’ll increase, work a couple of rnds of alternating knit and purl rounds and then start the colorwork
• NOTE: you must be able to read the chart for the colorwork!
