I have to admit I have a weakness for gradient sets that are made up of multiple colors instead of shades of one color. ( Although I like those too, maybe it’s just that the little skeins look so cute when they’re lined up?) Anyways, I fell for the Miss Babs gemstone gradient set and bought one figuring it would be a shawl. Rockhound is the resulting shawl. It is a top down crescent that begins with a garter tab cast on. Increases are worked on both right side and wrong side rows. The stitch patterning uses crossed slip stitches. The result is a shawl that is cozy and easy to wear.
The pattern name rockhound is a nod to the gemstone colors used. I have a friend who is a geologist and she belongs to a rockhound group.
Materials 1 skein of Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply, 100% Superwash Merino Wool, (400 yds/115g) in Oyster
and

1 set of Miss Babs Yummy 2-Ply Toes Gradient, 100% Superwash Wool (133 yds/38g per skein-six skeins total) in Gemstones
OR
Approximately 400 yds of fingering weight yarn and a set of six gradient or mini skeins (110 yds minimum/each skein)
