This lacy beaded shawl is a fun knit. It’s based on a simple lace pattern borrowed from a family heirloom baptism dress. Using beads is an option that gives it just a little more pit!

Rejoice starts with an interesting set-up, but once the first rows are done the rest of the shawl knits up quite quickly. There are 5 stitches added to each row, making the shawl grow fast!
All the ‘wrong’ side rows are knit with purl stitches so it’s actually much easier than it looks.
Use any of your favorite shawl yarns for this pattern. I’ve knit up one with fingering and one with a 2-ply lace yarn. Just knit it until you think it’s large enough and then do the lacy bind off, with or without the extra lace flower edge.

Yarn needed: anything between 400 meters of a 4-ply yarn (fingering/sock yarn) to 600 meters of 2-ply lace yarn
The pictured shawls are knit up with 1 skein of Dutch Wool Diva Sock Marl “Powder Pink”, 50% Alpaca, 50% Merino (400 m/100g - 437 yards per skein) and 600 meters of Dutch Wool Diva Lace Silk “Green Hornet”, a silk/merino blend (800m/100 g - 875 yards per skein)
Needles: 120 cm/46 in circulars - 4 mm/US 6 or 4.5 mm/ US 7 (Use the ones that give you the nicest drape with your yarn
Also necessary: Optional: 400 -600 8/0 beads (it all depends on how big you make your shawl), a very small crochet hook or floss thread for the beads, (or see my bead tutorial for the most easy way to add beads with only a length of thin metal wire), stitch markers(optional) and a needle to work the loose ends away with.
Blocked Gauge: Not really necessary. My pink fingering weight shawl, knit with 4.5 mm/US 7 needles is: 18 sts and 34 rows is 10x10cm (4x4 inches) in Stockinette stitch
Blocked Sizes: (when doing 13 repeats with fingering yarn) 96 cm (38 in) across the top, and 50 cm (20 in) deep in the middle
(when doing a total of 20 repeats with lace yarn) 115cm (45 in) across the top and 61 cm (24 in) deep in the middle

Rejoice is een heerlijke sjaal met een lief kanten tulp randje. Hij is gebaseerd op een gebreide doopjurk die mijn oma bijna 40 jaar geleden gemaakt heeft. Kralen zijn een optie, maar ze geven deze sjaal net een beetje meer pit!

Ik draag dit patroon op aan mijn moeder, want zij en mijn vader hebben mij een naam gegeven die ik met vreugde (Joy) mag dragen!

Rejoice begint met een interessante set up, maar na de eerste 12 rijen gaat het vrij snel. Er zijn 5 panelen en met elke toer worden er 5 extra steken toegevoegd, zodat het snel groeit! Aan de achterkant wordt er alleen averechts gebreid, zo dat de sjaal nog eenvoudiger is dan het lijkt!
Gebruik je favoriete sjaal wol voor dit patroon. Ik heb het zelf een keer met fingering/sokken wol gebreid en een keer met kant wol (2-ply). Gewoon lekker doorbreien tot het groot genoeg is of tot je wol bijna op is en dan werk je het af met of zonder de tulpen rand.

Garen: alles tussen 400 meters van een 4-ply yarn (fingering/sokkenwol) tot 600 meters van 2-ply kant wol

De sjaals op de fotos zijn gebreid met 1 streng van Dutch Wool Diva Sock Marl “Powder Pink”, 50% Alpaca, 50% Merino (400 m/100g - 437 yards per streng) en 600 meters van Dutch Wool Diva Lace Silk “Green Hornet”, en zijde/merino mix (800m/100 g - 875 yards per streng)

Naalden: 120 cm/46 in rondbrei naalden - 4 mm/US 6 of 4.5 mm/ US 7 (Gebruik de naalden die het beste bij je garen passen.)
Ook Nodig: 400 -600 8/0 kralen (hoeveel ligt eraan hoe groot je de sjaal maakt), een kleine haaknaald of een dun draadje om de kralen op je garen te rijgen. Zie mijn kralen tutorial voor de meest eenvoudige manier om dit te doen met een stukje dunne metalen draad. Steken markeerders (optional) en een naald om de losse einden weg te werken.
Stekenproef: Niet echt nodig. Mijn ‘sokkenwol’ sjaal, gebreid met 4.5 mm naalden, is: 18 stekens en 34 rijen is 10x10cm (4x4 inches) met Stockinette steek(=tricot steek).
Maat na opspannen: 96 cm (38 in) tot 115cm (45 in) langs de bovenkant en 50 cm (20 in) tot 61 cm (24 in) diepte in het midden.
