I was born at Piha, on the west coast of Auckland, New Zealand. We moved away when I was young but I have found myself back here again raising my own children in this wildly beautiful beach environment. Piha means ‘the divided ripple at the bow of a canoe’, denoting the waves breaking at the front of the iconic Lion Rock. The Piha Shawl was inspired by these very waves and the sand ripples found on the low tide. I hope you enjoy creating your own version of the Piha Shawl.
