When I had the idea to create this hat, I was looking at old family photos and I was filled with nostalgia. Ear hats, often lined with fur, have been part of our Quebec winters for as long as I can remember. So I really wanted to share this memory with you by creating a design inspired by my past.

Size
Small, Medium and Large - S, (M, L)

Small - For a small head (18” to 19” head circumference).
Medium - For an average head (20-22” head circumference).
Large - For a large head (23” to 24” head circumference).
If in doubt, choose a size down, the hat is not very tight.

Gauge
For the swatch, use 2 DK size yarns with a mohair lace size yarn, on 5.5 mm (US 9) needles. Follow the directions at the beginning of the pattern. Remember, one brioche row equals two knitted rows.
13 sts x 32 rows (16 brioche rows) = 10.16 cm / 4 in. after light steam blocking.

Yarn
Sample knitted with;
2 strands of BFL Twist DK by Les Garçons Hand-Dyed
100 gr = 250 m / 273 vgs / 100% Superwash Bluefaced Leicester Wool
Colors, Emma’s Stone and Betty’s White (1 skein of each color)
and
1 thread of Mohair Silk by Les Garçons Hand-Dyed
50 gr = 440 m / 459 vgs / 72% Kid Mohair, 28% silk.
Color, Emma’s Stone, 1 skein. (need 25 gr on 50 gr)

Needles and tools
5.5 mm (US 9) and 6.5 mm (US 10.5) circular needles with 40 cm / 16 in cable.

A marker to distinguish the beginning of the round. A wool needle. Scrap yarn to place sections on hold.

Lorsque j’ai eu l’idée de créer ce chapeau, j’étais en train de regarder de vieilles photos de familles et j’étais empli de nostalgie. Les chapeaux à oreilles, souvent doublés de fourrure, font partie de nos hivers québécois depuis aussi longtemps que je me souvienne. J’ai donc vraiment eu envie de partager avec vous ce souvenir en créant un design inspiré de mon passé.

Grandeurs
Petit, Moyen et Large - P, (M, L)

Petit - Pour une tête petite (circonférence de la tête de 18 à 19 po).
Moyen - Pour une tête moyenne (circonférence de la tête de 20 à 22 po).
Large - Pour une tête large (circonférence de la tête de 23 à 24 po)
Dans le doute, choisissez une taille en dessous, le chapeau n’est pas très serré.

Échantillon
Pour l’échantillon, prendre 2 fils de grosseur DK avec un fil de grosseur dentelle en mohair, sur des aiguilles 5,5 mm (US 9). Suivre les indications en début de patron. N’oubliez pas, un rang en brioche égale deux rangs tricotés.
13 m x 32 rangs (16 rang brioche) = 10,16 cm / 4 po après léger blocage à la vapeur.

Fils
Modèle tricoté avec;
2 fils de la base BFL Twist DK par Les Garçons Hand-Dyed
100 gr = 250 m / 273 vgs / 100% laine de bluefaced leicester lavable
Couleurs, Emma’s Stone et Betty’s White (1 écheveau de chaque couleur)
et
1 fil de Mohair Silk par Les Garçons Hand-Dyed
50 gr = 440 m / 459 vgs / 72% jeune mohair, 28% soie.
Couleur, Emma’s Stone,1 écheveau. (besoin de 25 gr sur 50 gr)

Aiguilles et outils
Aiguilles circulaires de 5,5 mm (US 9) et 6,5 mm (US 10,5) avec câble de 40 cm / 16 po.

Un marqueur pour distinguer le début de tour. Une aiguille à laine. Bout de laine pour mettre des sections en attente.
