murmuration cowl
This is a pattern for cowl worked in the round and using the Fair-Isle knitting technique.
Stitches are cast on and joined to work in the round. The Rib, chart, Rib is worked, before the project is bound off.
The sample used a coordinated variegated/solid pair. This makes the motif move in a out of the background. To see the patterning motif uniformly,use 2 a contrasting variegated/solid pair OR 2 solid/solid pair.
yarn:
Premium Merino (KPM) by Koigu; Fingering; 100% Merino; 175yds (160m) / 50g
approximate yarn amounts:
MC (1535 Green - multi) - 45g; 158yds/144m
(may more needed, if working a taller cowl)
CC (1530) - 30g; 105yds/96m
needles:
2.5mm (us no 1.5) circular
3.0mm (us no 2.5) circular
gauge (after blocking; yarn grows with blocking):
26 sts x 26 rows = 4in/10cm measured over stranded stockinette on 3.0mm needles
approximate finished size (laying flat):
11.5in/29.5cm (width) x 9.5in/24cm (height)
