Miss Ellie's Garden
Designed for a dear friend’s first daughter, this worsted weight washable wool baby blanket (approx. 48” diameter) is a joy to knit.
Worked in the round and starting at the center on #8s, you create a spiral-petaled focal-point. Switching to #10s and spoke increases, you begin to work shades of pink in the petals. I have added a few rounds of striping between the color changes to avoid harshness and blend the colors better.
The final rounds are a knitted-on border in a pale green.
This would look equally good in a solid color (requiring approx 485 yds of wool).
Directions are both round-by-round and charted.
Sample shown used Kraemer’s Summit Hill in 4 colors:
o Color 1 (center) Balsa (25 yards)
o Color 2 (first pink) Giggle (100 yards)
o Color 3 (second pink) Rose Quartz (175 yards)
o Color 4 (leaf border) Peridot (185 yards)
