The subtle grays of this beautiful silky yarn remind me of early morning mists rolling in from the sea. Taking my inspiration from that fluid movement, I designed this shawl using simple lace stitches that flow smoothly across the knitted fabric in delicate waves. These sinuous shapes culminate in a linear border, much like the mists that disappear into the foothills. For a bit of extra sparkle and drape, I added a handful of seed beads along the border (365 6/0 4.00 mm seed beads, optional); and while I chose brilliant red for this project, any color of beads will work beautifully, subtle or full of contrast.

Migla, meaning ‘mist’, uses only very basic stitches, has a simple four-stitch repeat, and is worked end-to-end with just one skein of fingering yarn. The addition of the beads is optional and the shawl can be worked without them. All of this makes Migla a quick project easy enough even for a novice lace knitter.
