Maypop Hoodie is a loose and flowy hooded cardigan with a lace detail running down the spine. Wear it buttoned up or, for a casual robe-like look, with an i-cord belt tied around the waist.

This raglan-sleeved cardigan is worked top down starting with the hood that’s shaped with short rows. The lace panel at the center back flows seamlessly down the hood, into the body of the garment, and then all the way to the garter stitch band at the hem.

Zig zag lace and garter stitch details run down the front edges of the cardigan. For minimal finishing, button bands are worked simultaneously with the body of the cardigan. Waist and back shaping give this flowing summer hoodie a subtle hourglass curve.

The pattern is written with both metric and US terminology. Both written and charted instructions are given for all lace patterns.

MATERIALS
Yarn

• The Fibre Co. Meadow (40% merino wool, 25% baby llama, 20% silk, 15% linen, 498 m/100 g, 545 yd/3.5 oz), approx. 3 (3, 3, 4) [4, 4, 5, 5] skeins. The sample cardigan is knit in size S in the colorway Cosmos.
• Or light fingering weight yarn, approx. 1200 (1300, 1400, 1600) [1750, 1850, 2000, 2100] m / 1350 (1450, 1550, 1750) [1950, 2050, 2200, 2300] yd

Choose a light-weight yarn with a good amount of drape, such as a wool/cotton, wool/linen, or wool/silk blend.

Needles

• 3.50 mm / US #3 long circular needle (80–100 cm / 32–40”) for lace and stockinette (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• 3.25 mm / US #3 long circular needle for garter-stitch bands
• 3.25 mm / US #3 double-pointed needles for the i-cord belt and belt loops
• If not working in magic loop, double-pointed needles in the same sizes for the sleeves.

Notions

• 9 (9, 9, 10) [10, 10, 10, 10] buttons approx. 1.5 cm / ½“ in diameter
• Darning needle
• 2 pins or removable stitch markers
• Spare needle for picking up stitches
• 8 stitch markers

TECHNIQUES USED
The pattern uses the following techniques: long-tail and knitted cast-ons, lace, short-row shaping using the German short-row method, one-row buttonholes, yarnless bind-off, and i-cord.

Ability to work lace from a chart is recommended but written instructions are also provided for the lace patterns.

Maypop Hoodie on liehuva hupputakki, jota koristaa takakappaleella kulkeva leveä pitsikaistale. Takkia voi käyttää joko napitettuna tai kietaisemalla se rennosti kiinni i-cord-vyöllä.

Tämä raglanhihainen takki neulotaan ylhäältä alas aloittaen hupusta, joka muotoillaan lyhennetyillä kerroksilla kuin jättimäinen sukan kantapää. Takin takana kulkeva pitsikaistale jatkuu saumattomasti hupusta takakappaleelle ja koko matkan alas takkia reunustavaan ainaoikeinreunukseen asti.
