Marvelously Modular Hat
Sizes:
S (M, L); 13½” (16½”, 18½”) circumference, unstretched;
7” (8”, 9”) tall
Note: Unstretched sizes may look small, but hat is extremely stretchy! Small = child; Medium = Ladies’ average; Large = Men’s average
Skill level: Advanced beginner to intermediate
Needles: #5 straight or circular, 16” circular, and DPNs
Note: I tend to be a loose knitter; you may need to go up a needle size or two for correct gauge if you’re a tighter knitter.
Main body of hat begins with a provisional cast on, is knit sideways in garter stitch and shaped with a few short rows in each section, then joined into a circle with Kitchener stitch. Can be worked with or without eyelet detail (largest size shown in photo is without eyelets). Stitches are then picked up around the top and knit in the round to complete the crown decreases, and stitches are picked up around the bottom and worked in the round to complete the bottom ribbing.
Note: Since Halos of Hope is ceasing operations at the end of 2017, donations from the sale of this pattern are no longer being sent. Since their release dates, over $140 had been donated to Halos of Hope from the sales of this pattern and my Seeded Rib Hat pattern! Thank you!
