Laniakea is inspired by the supercluster of galaxies bearing the same name, which includes our own Milky Way. A longing for stars and infinity shaped this design.

It is worked top-down, with a set-in sleeve construction, mostly knit in the round. The shoulders are worked first, using a provisional cast-on, and later joined using a three-needle bind-off. The starry motif is then worked down to the upper bust.

To create a clean transition line, the stitches are bound off and picked up again to work the rest of the body in the round. Under each armpit sits an inverted box pleat, opening into the starry motif, which then multiplies like thousands of galaxies.

This pattern is graded according to back width for a fitted look, and offers three bust circumference options per size.

Materials

• Yarn: Fingering weight.

Sample shown in Bambou Lin by L’Atelier de Viny (400 m / 100 g, 70% bamboo, 30% linen), colorway Serpentaire.

Choose a similar quality yarn (linen, bamboo, cotton, etc.), with little to no elasticity and minimal variegation to preserve the visibility of the motif. A sport weight yarn is also an option, though youwill need more yardage.

• Needles: 3 mm circular needles, including for finishing. A second pair of circular needles is required for the three-needle bind-off at the shoulders and for the inverted box pleat under the arm.

• 9 to 12 stitch markers to distinguish motif repeats.

• 4 technical markers, including 1 for the BoRM.

• Stitch holders.

• Scrap yarn in a contrasting color + 3 mm crochet hook for the provisional cast-ons

Sizes

Sizes available : (0, 1, 2, 3) {4, 5, 6} [7, 8, 9] (10, 11, 12, 13).

The sample shown in the photos is a size 7 FB2 (+5 cm at the back, +8 cm at the bust, +28 cm at the hips).

The pattern was graded using the default median ease values: +4 cm at the back, +8 cm at the bust, +28 cm at the hips.

Gauge

Washed, blocked and dry: 25 sts x 30 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 in stockinette, worked in the round.

It is essential to meet gauge to obtain the intended fit.

Laniakea est inspiré du supercluster de galaxies du même nom dont fait partie notre Galaxie, la Voie Lactée. Comme une envie
d’étoiles et d’infini pour ce design.

Il se tricote du haut vers le bas (top-down),selon une construction manches montées, essentiellement en rond. On commence par les épaules, via un montage provisoire, afin de les rabattre à trois aiguilles plus tard. Puis on tricote le motif étoilé jusqu’à atteindre le haut de la poitrine. Pour créer une jolie ligne d’arrêt on rabat puis relève les mailles pour tricoter le reste du corps en rond.

Sous chaque aisselle se trouve un pli creux s’ouvrant sur le motif étoilé qui se multiplie comme des milliers de galaxies.

Ce modèle est gradé selon la mesure dos pour un porté seyant et propose trois possibilités de tour de poitrine par taille.

Matériel :

• Fil : épaisseur fingering.

Le prototype a été tricoté en Bambou Lin de L’Atelier de Viny (400 m / 100 gr, 70% Bambou, 30% lin), coloris Serpentaire.

=> Voir les métrages sur l’une des dernières images à gauche.

Privilégiez un fil d’une qualité similaire (lin, bambou, coton, …), non extensible, dans un coloris peu varié pour ne pas noyer le motif.

• Aiguilles circulaires : 3 mm, finitions incluses.Une deuxième paire de circulaires pour faire le rabat à 3 aiguilles des épaules et le pli creux sous aisselle.

• Entre 9 et 12 marqueurs pour distinguer les répétitions du motif. 4 marqueurs pour distinguer les parties techniques dont 1 qui servira de MdR.

• Des arrêtes mailles.

• Un reste de fil contrastant pour faire les montages provisoires + un crochet 3 mm.

Tailles :

Les tailles disponibles : (0, 1, 2, 3) {4, 5, 6} [7, 8, 9] (10, 11, 12, 13).

Les mesures du tableau sont en centimètres et représentent les mesures du vêtement fini.

Le modèle porté sur les photos est une T7 FP2 (+5 cm au dos, +8 cm au TDP, +28 cm aux hanches).

Le modèle a été gradé avec les aisances médianes par défaut (+4 cm au dos, +8 cm au TDP, +28 cm aux hanches).

Échantillon

Lavé, bloqué et sec : 25 m x 30 rgs, 10 x 10 cm en jersey AR et en rond.

Il est important de respecter l’échantillon pour obtenir la taille attendue.
