I designed this blanket to represent a gorgeous Summer sky, which showcases beautiful gradient yarns, while intersecting them with textured rows of little fluffy clouds. It is a striped pattern worked in rows, with a subtle ripple effect.

The blanket is created using a 16 row repeat; a 4 row section of clouds followed by three x 4 row repeats of sky, making this a mindful project to work on, once you’re familiar with the repeat.

The pattern can be easily adjusted to create a blanket which is sized to your choosing and could be worked in any weight yarn with the appropriate sized hook. The foundation chain (see pattern for specifics) gives you the width of the blanket. You can then work as many repeats as desired for the length. You could even work each 4 row repeat of sky in a different shade to create your own gradient.

You will need an equal amount of sky colour and cloud colour yarn. As a guide on yarn amounts;
200g of each colour makes a baby blanket approx 52cm x 72cm.
400g of each colour makes a throw 73cm wide x 104cm in length.

I used:
Sirdar Jewelspun Ombre Aran in shade ‘Rainbow Glow’ (400g, 1000m, 100% Acrylic) for the sky section. Hayfield Bonus Aran in Cream (100g, 256m, 100% Acrylic) for the clouds.
5mm hook (you may wish to go up a hook size for more drape)
You will need the same weight in cloud colour as sky, so for one 400g ball of Ombre, you will need 4 x 100g ball of solid colour.
