Every year, the local knit shop that I work at yarn-bombs our street. It’s not just an art project, though - after the event, the panels are taken down and donated to the animal shelter as cage mats. This panel works up quickly but interestingly, and has many possible applications: cage mats (in different sizes), multiple panels sewn together to make a blanket for someone in need, worked in a DK weight cotton as washcloths for a domestic violence or crisis pregnancy center… how will your panel change your community, and the world?

…super-bulky yarn on 13s (4.5 stitches and 6 rows in 2 inches) will make a 24” square
…worsted weight yarn on 8s (9 stitches and 12 rows in 2 inches) will make a 12” square
…DK weight yarn and 6s (12 stitches and 16 rows in 2 inches) will make a 9” square
…sock yarn on 2s (15 stitches and 19.5 rows in 2 inches) will make a 7” square.
