Gillespie Sweater
This is a smaller version of the Finsbury Park Sweater that I originally designed for my husband, and Gillespie is a small park close to the larger Finsbury Park in London, so it seemed like a good name for this junior-sized sweater.
Although the sweater has been scaled down for kids and younger teens, the key features that make this sweater special remain unchanged:
The deep textured panel adds visual interest and draws attention to the upper body.
The sleeves are shaped for a comfortable and neat finish.
The neckline is slightly loose to make sure the sweater isn’t constraining.
The sweater is seamed to give structure and a great fit at the shoulder and armhole.
Heavy worsted or aran weight yarn can be used.
All measurements are given in inches and centimetres.
Yardage/meterage required: 460 (590, 660, 740, 830, 910, 1040) yds/420 (540, 605, 675, 760, 830, 950) mts heavy worsted or aran weight yarn.
The instructions are fully written out, there is a schematic, and there is an additional chart for the textured stitch.
My testers for the adult pattern thought that this pattern is suitable for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter. You need to be able to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, k2tog, ssk, pick up stitches for the neckband and sew a seam.
