Master intarsia colourwork with Sian Brown’s festive motif cushion cover. It has a stocking stitch back, intarsia motif on the front with added embroidery, and moss stitch edges. Small amounts of colours are also used for embroidery not included in the yarn quantities. The embroidered baubles add a Christmas tree look which could be left off for a plain fir tree with added embroidery for branches in brown.

Festive cushion covers are a brilliant way to embrace the season without overhauling your entire design scheme. One simple switch up will be enough for you to add a festive flourish to your home. If understanding intarsia is top of your Christmas wish list, this pattern will certainly guide you in the right direction. There is also the opportunity to embroider French knots and to try your hand at moss stitch.

If you are a dab hand at embroidery, you could always forego the simple French knots for a more elaborate pattern. From a pretty Christmas angel to decorative baubles, there are so many festive additions for you to make.
