Fade to the Top of the Mountain Shawl
With its symmetrical triangle shape and generous depth, the “Fade to the Top of the Mountain Shawl” is a versatile accessory. Wear it as a neck scarf with a cardigan and jeans, or drape it around your shoulders on cool evenings. The unique placement of the shifts between three colors makes it as much fun to crochet as it is to wear. Use the coloring sheet at the end of the pattern to choose your colors and plan your fade!
The construction of this shawl involves simple stitches and relatively uncomplicated shaping, making it a great pattern for an adventurous beginner. With increases at the center of every third row, the shawl begins with a diamond-shaped main panel. This center panel is quick and easy to crochet, and the pattern is easy to memorize. After the center panel is complete, you will work one wing at a time, decreasing along the top edge to create a triangle. These wings require a little more concentration. The pattern includes crochet stitch charts for the main panel and wings, as well as a Color Sequence Chart & Checklist to help you keep track of color changes as you go.
