Cables and cardigans go together like peas and carrots! Throw in tweed yarn and you have perfection! Curry has an interesting construction and fun cables making it a very enjoyable knit. The construction is a modified version of the contiguous set-in sleeves method developed by Susie Myers. For the sample I used Happy Hank Co, Donegal Tweed DK in the Curry color way. The yarn is gorgeous and has great stitch definition!

Yarn: Happy Hank Co, Donegal Tweed DK; 85% merino,15% Donegal nep; 232 yds/212m per 100g skein; Curry, 4 (4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8) skeins; 770 (850, 915, 1045, 1120, 1210, 1335, 1455, 1545, 1640) yds; 710 (780, 840, 960, 1025, 1115, 1225, 1335, 1420, 1505) m
Needles: Size 4/3.5mm 24”/60 cm (or longer) circular needle and set of 4 or 5 double-pointed needles.
Other: 12 stitch markers (2 colors or types – see Note below), cable needle, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle. 10-16 buttons size 0.5-0.75”/13-19mm. Sample shown with 10 buttons placed every third button hole. Instructions for crochet buttons are at the end of the pattern.

Gauge: 20 sts and 28 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette Stitch.
22 sts = 3”/7.5 cm in Saddle Chart pattern.

Notes: This cardigan is constructed from the top down in one piece with saddles, using the contiguous method. There is a lot going on in the beginning, but as you proceed the increases slow down. There are notes within the pattern to guide you.Because the row gauge for the Reverse Stockinette button band is slightly looser than for the cabled buttonhole band, short rows are worked every 12 rows throughout the body to ensure the bands are equal length. The front bands are worked as part of the body of the cardigan. The holes created by cables on the Button Band become buttonholes.There is no body shaping past the armholes, but the cables do add some natural shaping. The length of the body and sleeves is adjustable.
