Cracked Glass Cowl
NOTE: Dream in Color Smooshy or Smooshy with Cashmere is a perfect substitution for Starry.
Gauge/hook note: The G hook I used for this project states it’s 4.25 mm; and 4 repeats of the main body lace pattern = 4” (10 cm).
Inspired by and named for Elise DeRoche, a/k/a Baroness Raymonde de Laroche, the first woman to receive a pilot’s license (in France - there was no other place to become licensed at the turn of the 20th century).
This cowl is slightly asymmetric and comes in two sizes, which should fit most women. I love the play between the textured lace of the main body and the bottom edging/front lace inset. This cowl is easy and fairly straightforward (it’s worked flat through the bottom edging); only the last bit of the front lace inset (which acts to make the cowl circular) requires a little additional attention. Otherwise, it’s clear sailing … er, flying. :)
