Cirrus Cloud
The inspiration for this shawl comes from cirrus clouds, which form ever-changing delicate lines in the sky. The shawl combines modern lines with an interesting and quick-to-knit lace pattern that creates unique texture on both sides.
Cirrus is knitted simply in one piece, starting at the center of the top edge without the need for a garter tab. The shawl is shaped into a practical elongated triangle using double increases at the center and along both edges. Cirrus is a fun and easy one-skein project, perfect for last-minute gift knitting - the lace pattern is charted and has written row-by-row instructions.
The lace pattern is very easy to work thanks to the basic stitches and purled wrong side rows; this also means that different yardage can be easily accommodated for a custom size. For a bit of fun sparkle, beads can be added throughout the lace by placing them randomly on just some of the single knit stitches at center of the ‘yo, k1, yo’ sequence.
This pattern is a part of the Cloud Atlas collection of four shawl patterns, available as Ravelry e-book.
