Notes: Inspired by our granddad’s classical knitted cardigan, the BIGGRANCARDIGAN is designed to be an everlasting and long living favorite piece for your wardrobe. Knitted in Blackers Lyonesse it will become a perfect layering piece for all year around. The Linen-Wool Blend gives the perfect stitch definition for the allover texture.
It’s a minimalistic design which will never get out of style.

With a provisional Cast on you start at cb with the neckband (left and right) in 1x1 rib, than stitches for body and sleeves are picked up along the neckband and you work top dow, in the stitch pattern ST P (broken rib) including the increases (for raglan / yoke) as well as increases for the front neckline shape at the same time. Separate Body and sleeves by putting sleeve stitches on separate holder; continue the body including the setups for the pockets. The pocket bags are worked before you finish the body with the 1x1 rib hem, joining the pocket bags as you go. Now sleeves are worked in rounds, finished with the 1x1 rib cuff.

Finished chest measurement: 86 / 96 / 108 / 119 / 125 / 134 cm (33.5 / 37.5 / 42 / 44 / 46. 5 / 52.25 inch) (blocked)

Ease: it’s designed with around 5-10 cm / 2-4” inch of positive ease

Needles: Please choose needle size to obtain to the requested gauge, circular needles with a length of at least 60cm (32”) in the 2 sizes you get gauge with and optional DPN’s in same sizes (if you work sleeves with DPN’s instead of working with magic loop method).
(Designer used circular needle 3,0mm (US 3) and 3,5mm (US 4), but it might be that you have to use larger needle sizes as she is a very loose knitter.)
(Please check also if you need different needle size for knitting in the round (sleeves) compared to knitting flat (body))

Yarn: Blacker Lyonesse DK; 109 m (119 yards) /50 g (50% Wool / 50% Cellulose - Linen / Flax), plied or any yarn that you get gauge with.

Yardage: you need around 882 / 1034 / 1223 / 1465 / 1581 / 1775 m (961 / 1127 / 1344 / 1597 / 1723 / 1934 y)
(please have always a tinylittle bit more on stock of your yarn to be on the safe side, just in case….)
