Aiko
These socks are named after a fantastic sock knitter and lovely friend, aiko1122
The pattern has both written and charted instructions. As the cables pull in, the legs are knitted with 68 and 76 sts.
The pattern is written for magic loop, but can easily be modified for double pointed needles.
There is two options for the toe and heel, normal stockinette and ribbed one. The instep and leg cable patterns are mirrored.
Due the cables the fabric pulls in, so when knitting toe up the gusset increases begin earlier than usually.
Yarn:
100 g of fingering weight yarn, app. 420 m (440 yds)/100g. The sample socks were knitted with Lana Grossa Meilenweit, 210m/230 yds per 50g.
Needles etc:
2.25-2.75 mm/ US 1-2 circular needle, 80 cm/ 32” or longer
Cable needle, marker, tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Gauge:
34 sts x 48 rows = 10 x 10 cm/ 4” x 4” in stockinette stitch after blocking.
