Afflouncement Shawl
Ever since I heard this term - a fabulous way of describing those who make a dramatic “I’m leaving” statement from online forums - I’ve wanted to design a shawl appropriate for making such a flounce.
The Afflouncement Shawl is an elongated garter stitch crescent. It uses a higher rate of increases than usual to give a longer narrower shawl than a standard crescent shape.
For that little touch of drama, a contrast trim is added with a double-picot bind off. Not for the faint-hearted and certainly not the speediest of bind-offs (side note: bring snacks), but it does mean that when you style your shawl you can do so with just the right amount of flounce.
